The season 2021/22

The season of 2020/21  was  difficult. We decided to enter our outstanding under 15's team in the ESFA  Trophy. Most other inter district competitions were not run due to the Covid restrictions. Our team were SE England  champions and we thought they deserved an opportunity to win a national title.  They did well making the semi final where they played Croydon. Unfortunately they lost this match 1-5. When we came to this season a rematch was staged in the London Schools Cup final.Playing outstanding possession football they reversed the result winning 5-0. They became London Champions.

A Hat trick of Championships

This season was very successful. For the first time in many years our teams won three Inner London Schools FA competitions

The girls primary team started things off.Their first success was to reach the South East England Cup Final. Orpington and Bromley were their opponents. They has just won the National title by defeating Liverpool 4-1 in the final. Our match was played at Maidstone United ground.Although it was a ell contested match Orpington's finishing was outstanding and they won 4-1. Despite losing this match South London had another chance of winning a competition. Manager Benjie Ackim was confident they would turn thing around. In the Inner London John Larter Cup final they travelled to East London to play Hackney in the Final. Hackney were a physically strong team who relied on closing down the more skillful South London players. On a hot summers day  this was bound to eventually fail. It was a high standard encounter. The match was 1-1 and  went to extra time. A well taken goal by South London's Lexie Curtis decided the outcome . South London girls became worthy Inner London County Champions.

The second county success was in the Inner London County under 15's Final. The match was against Islington and Camden. Initially the match was well contested as Islington and Camden stopped South London playing their possession passing game. Half way through the first half South London scored. This turned the momentum of the match around. At this point  South London took control and scored three more goals. In the last 5 minutes Islington and Camden scored and the match finished with South London winning 4-1.They were County Champions.

The third final was for the Inner London under 12's Trophy. It was between South London and Greenwich. This was the culmination of a league with play off semi finals. In the league South London had won every match finishing top. This lead to a semi final in which they defeated Hackney 9-1. Greenwich were a strong team have won most of their matches. In the final they were over whelmed 10-0.  South London became County Champions.

Although the under 11's boys primary team did not have a good season they did have a major triumph early in the season. They took part in the Crystal Palace 7 a sides Tournament and won it.
